Dr. B r i g i t t a oZ i c s iis an award winning artist, media philosopher and interaction designer with particular interest in emerging technologies and their impact on creative practices. She recently finished her interdisciplinary PhD at the University of Wales, UK. Her main research interest concerns how philosophy of consciousness and cognitive sciences provide a new potential for applications in technology-based art and design.

THE MIND CUPOLA, Affective Environment 2008
The MIND CUPOLA interactive media art work attempts to produce a unique experience guiding it’s user to a state of mind entitled ‘equilibrium’. This is achieved by the user’s physical and emotional interaction with both the immersive graphical visualisation and the interactive cupola hardware, through the use of facial and head motion and constant feedback readings of their facial temperature. According to the head movements the visualisation displays ordered or disordered fractal-like particles which the spectator can transform into textual messages describing elements of their current state or advising them of actions to take to lead them into the pure state of ‘equilibrium’.The ‘equilibrium’ state is achieved when the user is fully immersed into the aesthetic interaction of the Mind Cupola, creating a conscious state of mind and bodily interaction.

The Mind Cupola: towards a consciousness altering device
An immaterial model for interactive technology based art production

This paper introduces a novel scheme of active spectatorship which suggests a cognitive driven interaction. It proposes that although this new form is increasing in contemporary interactive art production it has not been drown attention to its potential as new form of aesthetic. As such, the discussion here produces an account for this interdisciplinary practical application of technology and argues that is an immaterial encounter of interactivity revolutionise previous modalities of interactive art [...]

THE MIND CUPOLA, Affective Environment 2008: This interactive art work explores the potentiality of a cognitive-driven interaction (or passive interaction) process which is based upon a complex system of instant affection technologies (mechanical and audio-visual) and affective computing (face analysis based on temperature and gesture). 		VirtuAlcor Software Presentation 2003	The VirtuAlcor: accelerated evolution system from Brigitta Zics is a virtual cold storage laboratory, offering the vitrification of a biological body in shape of an avatar body for eternity. Die Ereignisse, die hier stattfinden, sind bestimmt durch die Algorithmen, der Benutzer kann das hier Geschehende nur beobachten.
