THE MIND CUPOLA, 2007 The concept of mind cupola was started as a demand for a device which immediately, mainly mechanically can influence the spectator’s perception. Following an Investigation in neuroscience it was instantly recognized that there are theoretical models and some applications to influence brain activities however no comprehensive system exists which is able to link physical to mental phenomenon. The artistic interest is to generate a new holistic perception of the spectator by simple mechanical and sensory machine which based on brain mapping theories. |

The artistic concept of Mind Cupola includes scientific and non scientific methods for effecting human cognition and trying to achive qualities of experience exhibited in other spiritual practices - such as meditation, performing prayers or other on mental activities focusing practises. It is surmised that the novel approch of unifying different methods and the enviromental artistic design achieves profound changes in the user.

The Mind Cupola: in inimitable surroundings the spectator receives different visible and invisible signals. The cupola includes the “frequency generators” which are special developed machines for generation of different waves with different frequencies. The main concept is that everything that exists in the material universe resonates at the specific frequency and with the help this machines the user different kind of activities (as brain activity) will be influenced.

The novel concept of the Out of Body Control project is a mixed reality system which aims to generate spiritual experiences from microcosmic phenomenon (waves) which stimulate the user. The Mind Cupola causes alteration of perception which will be monitored through electromagnetic technology, in this instance the thermal imaging, which produces data resources for the real time visualisation. The system is a closed loop as the user perceives the visualisation which again influences the face analysis and by this way the visualisation. |

THE TRANSPARENT ACT (thesis) The transparent act is a new model accounting new media art practice. It is a creative feedback loop in what both artist and spectator are contributors of the same creative processes. The idea is founded in the notion of ‘open work’ (Eco, 1989) in what the spectator as the artist has the same active role. In the transparent act, according to open work, the spectator is creator as well who activate the work of art. Hence, in the first creative process the artist design the spectators experience how should look like. Every other creative process based on this general idea. The second creative process when the spectator finishes the work of art with his experience. Immediately the artistic vision is tested by the interaction. In this test two creative processes are mapped onto each other which gives the degree of transparency. The figure: The transparent act as Csíkszentmihályi’s flow. The model depicts the feedback loop between artist (1) – art –work – spectator - artist (2). The creative flow is evaluated by the degree of transparency. High degree of transparency means a noiseless flow from the artist mediated by the artwork to the spectator. (2007) |
